Gruffalo puppet

This week’s activity is making puppets.We chose “The Gruffalo”


Materials required Coloured A4 cardstock Character head printout Thread/ribbon/yarn 2 Bottle caps Acrylic/poster paint Brush Pencil Eraser Marker White thread/fishing twine Toilet roll School glue

Step one Get your characters head ready along with a coloured paper to match your character.

Step two Cover your toilet roll with coloured card stock

Step three For an additional 2D effect cut a small piece of cardstock loop it and secure with glue.(you can skip this step and glue head to your toilet

Step four Glue your characters head.Now glue its head onto your toilet roll.

Step five Use a pin to make a hole at the top and the bottom on both sides.

Step six Thread your yarn through both holes at the bottom and top to form its arms and legs.

Step seven Use the pin to make a hole on your bottle caps. You can paint the caps to match your character.

Step eight Thread the bottle cap at the bottom to form its legs. Tie a knot at the bottom to secure.

Step nine Take 2 large sticks/toothpicks.Place them across and secure them in a ‘X’ form with rubber bands

Step ten Make markings to tie your white thread.

Step eleven Cut equal length twine/thread and secure each individually making a knot onto each stick.

Step twelve One pair of twine(first stick forward & back) will secure the top of your toilet roll using tape One pair of twine (second stick forward & back)will secure the bottom bottle caps by tying a knot.

Now get your stage ready and let the show begin…
