Growing up as a child I loved watching Jetsons. All about the futuristic tomorrow with robots, driverless mobile and so much more.
What if I told you UAE has had a driverless car since 2010. Yup, you heard that right read on to know more. Definitely add it to your list!
Driverless car aka Personal Rapid Transit (PRT)
Started in November, 2010 and operates on-demand, featuring angled berth stations allowing for independent entry and exit of vehicles.
The pods are controlled by an advanced navigation system that uses magnets embedded in the roadway while onboard sensors detect any obstacles in their path. They are powered by a battery that recharges while the pods are standing in the stations between trips.
Timings: 07am to 6pm
Cost: Free
Free parking available

Recommendation: Park your vehicle at Masdar Institute of Science, Take a PRT towards North car park, grab a drink or dine at any food outlet and head back for another ride on the PRT.
Masdar Park
Masdar Park has a children’s playground, with music wall, and art installations all themed on sustainability. Visitors can charge phone and digital devices, using the park’s solar-powered benches, and interact with “The Tree of Light,” which is made from recycled building materials and changes color on touch. Carry extra set of clothes for water play, some snacks, relax at the picnic area while kids burn off their energy learning and playing.
